    The Marketing and Communications Department works with departments across the organization to create and disseminate appropriate marketing and communication tools including e-communications, publications, digital marketing, social media, and event promotion. It is important that the Marketing and Communications Intern be engaging, creative, detail-oriented, and possess strong time management skills. The intern should also be a responsible individual who can work both independently as well as part of a team.


    • Creating and curating marketing content to promote Americans for the Arts events, membership and online bookstore

    • Working with staff to develop strategies for reaching new audiences and engaging our current audiences

    • Editing print and web content for various publications and websites

    • Searching for and writing about timely news relevant to the Americans for the Arts audience

    • Editing/posting blogs on ARTSblog and assisting with blog salons

    • Crafting and editing social media content for social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn

    • Pulling reports and analytics on marketing campaigns

    • Researching and cultivating advertisers and exhibitors for our Annual Convention and National Arts Marketing Project Conference

    • Assisting with press clips and PR administrative work

    • Providing photo database support

    • Providing general administrative assistance



    • Strong writing, editing and analytical skills

    • Knowledge of Microsoft office suite

    • Comfortable communicating over the phone a must

    • Basic knowledge of HTML a plus

    • Knowledge of Adobe Creative suite a plus

    • Ability to multitask

    • Maintain a sense of professionalism and courtesy toward others

    • Sense of humor and desire to work on a fun MarCom team
